Amazon.com Review
Whether you're making eggs Benedict for brunch or egg-salad sandwiches for school lunches, or if you just have a big, hungry family eager for breakfast, this cute device boils or poaches eggs to order and "chirps" when the eggs are cooked. Beneath Henrietta the hen's ample form there's a poaching tray that holds four eggs and a cooking rack that holds seven. Tray, rack, and Henrietta nest on a power base. Pour water into the base to one of three levels for soft-, medium-, or hard-boiled eggs; puncture their big ends with the piercing pin in a separate cooking-rack cavity to prevent shells from cracking; plug in the power base; and steam cooks the eggs. The tray, which requires water at level two, rests on the cooking rack if poached eggs are desired. Afterward, all the hard plastic parts except the power base can go in the dishwasher. --Fred Brack

The easy way of making egs5
I believe this is the best egg making machine ever invented. Every morning, instead of boiling eggs on the stove, waiting almost 30 minutes to an hour for hard boiled eggs, I stick the eggs into this egg maker and only wait a couple of minutes. My kids also love eating the eggs from this egg cooker because the egg cooker makes the eggs very tender, much better than stove top hard boiled eggs. It's also very easy for my kids to make the eggs. Henrietta also makes poached eggs as well as hard and soft boiled eggs. It's very easy, just add water and plug the chicken in to any wall outlet. After a couple of minutes, Henrietta makes delicious eggs for everyone. Whenthe eggs are done, Henrietta makes chirping sounds to alert then that the eggs are done. This way, I am sure that my kids are away from the stove, and are unable to burn themselves. I love this chicken because i don't forget about the eggs, and over cook them. I recommend this product to those who do not want to wait a long time for cooked eggs and those who love eggs.

Great Product5
My husband recently ordered Henrietta as a gift for me. I used it for the first time with apprehention as other reviews that I had read were not great. I can say now that it works just fine. The chirping may sound more like a whistle but that doesn't matter-I'm glad that it lets me know when the eggs are done. We live in a town that's above 5,280 ft above sea-level and most things have to cook longer. I was afraid that the centers of the hard-boiled eggs would not be cooked all of the way-they were just fine. Henrietta replaces an Oster egg cooker that I've had for well over 20 years. She works better than the Oster ever did.

Boiled eggs (but not poached)5
This is a very common appliance in Germany, where the traditional breakfast is a softboiled egg and a Kaiser roll with jam and butter, cheese or cold cuts. But it is a nuisance to correctly time eggs to get the right level of "done-ness." This appliance does it just right. As to poaching, none of these egg cookers really poaches an egg; to do that, you need a fry pan with some barely simmering water. Crack the (freshest possible) egg into a saucer and slip under the water. Lift out the cooked egg with a slotted spoon and drain. THAT'S a poached egg. Don't bother doing it any other way.

The principle of operation of an egg cooker is very simple; you put in a measured amount of water based on number of eggs and whether you want soft or hard boiled eggs, pierce the bottom of the eggs to release steam, cover and go. The thermostat in the base detects the temperature spike that happens when the water has boiled off. Presto, eggs are done. Then plunge them in cold water to cool (a good practice for hard boiled eggs as it eliminates the green rim around the yolk.(

While you can make perfectly good eggs on top of the stove in a pot, this is a very handy device if you like plain eggs for breakfast or to make hard boiled eggs for hiking, picnics or sandwiches.
